Everyone and basically everywhere in the world uses technology. Whether it's at work, school, etc. People need to understand at least the basics of technology to succeed nowadays. That is what influences both teachers and students to learn and understand technology.

The ISTE standards are an important part of teaching because, like I stated, it's pretty imperative that we (millennials) understand how to use different computer functions/programs. Since the world is becoming more technologically integrated, we need to be able to keep up and compete, in a sense, with others. Understanding technology can help us get jobs and even eventually move up. The more we know the better. Because of this, the Common Core Standards Initiative is important to me because I believe it will help us in the future. I don't think I disagree with any of the standards because I think it's important that everyone has a fair opportunity to become technologically advanced.

I agree with the label "digital native" because, as a 21 year old, I grew up with technology. Obviously it's advanced as I've aged, but I spent my fair time playing games on the computer as a child. The majority of them were learning games however, which I can only hope helped me become a better learner. Yes I've seen differences between me, a "digital native", and teachers, "digital immigrants" because a lot of them are slower with the use of technology, just like the majority of adults from earlier generations. For my students, I would like to be able to quickly and efficiently use technology, help them learn it, and show the importance of using it.
