Journal 2
I’ve used MS Word for just
about everything as a student. For example, I’m typing this blog post on it
right now. For every assignment I’ve done as a student, I’ve always typed my
answers out first onto a Word Document before submitting it because I find it
easier to edit and I don’t fully trust some of the submitting pages- it could
get deleted, etc. As for my teachers, the majority will post information using
MS Word. Whether it’s a syllabus, outlines for a paper or another assignment,
Word is usually their go-to format.
My experience with
copyright and fair use of materials is that if I use a picture or use a quote I
always make sure to properly cite it. I’ve (hopefully) never copyrighted anything.
I believe I would practice the same method if I were a teacher preparing a
presentation- to cite everything I’ve used that is not mine, but also not get
carried away posting hundreds of things that weren’t mine. If I created
something that was mine however, I would want to get it copyrighted
immediately. I would do the same for my students, if they wanted to get
something copyrighted. I would leave it up to them if they created something on
their own, but I would probably encourage it since you never know where their
work could eventually end up.
I’m sorry my textbook
shipping got delayed so I haven’t been able to read chapter 11!
